Symposium: Comparative perspectives on ecological disaster and the health care system

The Quebec Network for Intersectoral Research in Sustainable Oral and Bone Health (RiSBOd) is organizing a symposium as part of ACFAS 2025, it aims to explore the interactions between the ecological crisis and the health care system, with a particular focus on oral care.

This event will take place on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 9 am to 4 pm at The École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS).

Organization and coordination

  • Dr. Christophe Bedos (McGill University)
  • Dre. Pascaline Kengne Talla (McGill University)
  • Mrs Paola Léal (Eva Marsden Center for Social Justice and Aging)
  • Dre. Intissar Abbaoui (McGill University)

Objectives of the symposium

This symposium is intended to be a space for interdisciplinary reflection on current ecological issues and their impact on the field of health. In particular, it will address the following questions:

  • What are the main ecological challenges and how are they perceived by the different sectors of society?
  • How do these issues affect the health care system, and more specifically oral health care?
  • How to support healthcare structures towards more eco-responsible practices?
  • How can we reimagine our society and our lifestyles in the light of the ecological transition?

We invite all those interested in these themes to participate in this day of reflection and exchanges. The Quebec Network for Intersectoral Research in Sustainable Oral and Bone Health (RiSBOd) provides a budget to cover the registration fees of some participants, according to the principle of first come, first served.
